Power, Edge & Performance – The main focus for this 30 min class will be on
skating skills, skater performance and music interpretation. This will be offered to
any skater at the Pre Freeskate level and higher.
Off Ice – Skaters are encouraged to take part in the off-ice classes to compliment
the on ice training as the sport places substantial strength and flexibility demands
on a skater’s body. Class will be offered 2 days a week on Mondays and
Thursdays.
Learn To Figure Skate – A NEW program starting this Winter THAT IS THE NEXT
STEP IN FIGURE SKATING…without going straight into private lessons. This will be
a bridge program that gets the Basic 4, 5, and 6 skaters out of the Learn To Skate
program and into 3 different disciplines of figure skating - all in ONE class! This
class will be on the Port Huron Figure Skating Club ice that is right before the Learn
To Skate program on both Thursday and Saturday (in case you have a younger
child that doesn’t meet the requirements just yet). The skaters will have 30-45
minutes of instruction in this class and will be taught by the professional staff of
the Port Huron Figure Skating Club. Disciplines will be Freestyle, Moves in the Field
and Dance.
Learn To Skate USA – As in the past our Learn to Skate program will be offered on
Thursdays and Saturdays to beginning skaters as early as age 2.
Power Skating (Hockey) – PHFSC is excited to announce a new program. Power
Skating will be offered to hockey players that can already skate
forwards/backwards and stop. The focus is on agility, power and strength to
compliment both the Forward and Defense players. Goalies will be encouraged to
register also as skating skills are a must for any netminder. These skaters will be
registered through our club and will have memberships and insurance through
Learn To Skate.
